I have been fascinated by movie creatures/effects makeup since I was a wee lad. My brothers and I would go to the dollar movies and watch films such as "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad", "Jason and the Argonauts", and "Clash of the Titans". This would be followed by six weeks of night terrors, dreaming that the monsters in these movies were coming to get me. The creator of these movie monsters, Ray Harryhausen, had a huge influence on me as a child and sparked my interest in creature creating. I would try to create stop-motion animations with action figures and our gigantic home video camera in my room in an attempt to mimic Harryhausen's work.

Another “hobby” I've always enjoyed is scaring people. Was it just me or did all brothers around the world plot to scare the living hell out of one another? I was always hiding around corners, in pantries, under beds...trying to scare my brothers and friends (this continues to this day…ask anyone else in Size Fives). This love of frightening others, coupled with my desire to create my own monsters, drives me to hone my special effects makeup skills. I can only hope that my creations will some day give other children night terrors…what an honor that would be.
