Kirk Edwards

Location Sound/Audio Engineer

Kirk Edwards was born and raised in Dallas, TX. He spent most of his young adult life working as a cook in restaurants, and aspired to be a head chef for his own restaurant one day. After high school he enrolled in the culinary course at El Centro in Dallas and finished with a certificate in pastry skills. After a few weeks of job hunting he realized that he didn't want to spend the rest of his life sweating in a hot kitchen and he went to work for the family business instead.

Working for his dad allowed him the flexibility to pursue another passion of his, music. He took some audio engineering classes at the Dallas Sound Lab and began recording songs and playing gigs with a number of different bands. After a brief stint as an intern for a local recording studio Kirk realized that he didn't want to be stuck inside a dark and dreary recording booth for the rest of his life, and began to pursue other avenues of audio.

He was eventually introduced by his long time friend Chris Lunardon to the stage manager for the Studios at Las Colinas, Josh Gobin, and immediately became intrigued about the possibilities of parlaying his studio recording knowledge into a career in location mixing for movies and television. After meeting a few other people in "the biz" Kirk was able to weasel his way on set and in 2006 worked his first gig as an audio assistant for a bizarre news show called Queer TV. As crazy and stressful as those first few days were, Kirk saw how fun and exciting a career in "the biz" could be. So in 2006 he quit working for the family biz and became a full time freelancer.

Since then Kirk has worked in various departments as a P.A., Grip/Electrician, Food Stylist, Props/Set Dresser, and Camera Op, but mostly works as a Sound Mixer/Boom Op. Kirk has worked for many television networks such as The Travel Channel, Lifetime, Style Network, NBC, NBA TV, CMT, TV Land and the Discover Channel, to name a few. Some of his film credits include independent works like Missionary Man, Midgets vs. Mascots, the Last Tomorrow, Upper Hand, and The Name of God.

In 2009 Kirk became an original member of Size Fives Productions. As a Size Fiver Kirk wrote and directed his first spec spot, and continues to develop his knowledge in all fields of the production world. His main goal is to create and produce feature films that will help put Size Fives Productions on the map.
